What To Say and When

As a national advocate for teen driver safety, I'm often asked by parents- "what do I say???"

  • My advice is simple, talk often and honestly
  • There is no minimum age to start talking to your future drivers
  • As new drivers we've spent years learning to drive by watching you mom and dad, so set the right example
  • Start slow- new drivers should stick to familier places before new destinations
  • Keep calm, it's scary on both sides of the car
  • Discuss the facts- Car crashes are the NUMBER 1 killer of teenagers, the top factors are speed, no seat belts, cell phone use
  • Seek additional training like Tire Rack Street Survival and apps such as Drive Better
